Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts is one of the favorite activities at camp for any program. Some of the recent Arts and Crafts directors have gone far beyond painting rocks and making friendship bracelets to such ambitious tasks as making candles, stuffed toys, pet rocks, leather items, fragile earth pendants, clay sculptures, masks, bound journals, stepping stones, and of course tie-dying shirts and other articles of clothing. There are many different levels and types of activities, from simple paintings for the Cedarledge 101 campers to very involved and specific crafts, like a stepping stone with an embedded horseshoe for the WITs.

Nature

The nature program at Cedarledge is set up to help girls develop a greater appreciation of the outdoors. Through activities like color hikes (where girls are given paint samples and a mission to find those colors while in the woods), astronomy wheels, camouflage games, and hikes to many oft-forgotten places on camp, campers enjoy nature in ways they may otherwise not have the chance to. Once girls focus on nature during an activity, they will hopefully bring that admiration to all areas of life at Cedarledge.

Sports

Sports is an integral part in the camp schedule. Each unit participates in sports at least once a week, though it can be done more often in some cases. The main focus is on team sports like soccer, volleyball, softball, and kickball, but many other games and activities are included under sports. Some other options include playing frisbee-golf, tag, tetherball, or catch, teambuilding exercises like the human knot, having relay races, and playing games with parachutes or balls. In case of rain, sports can include indoor games as well.
